Kobe Port Tower

Kobe Maritime Museum

Ijinkan (Seiyoukan) [Western-Style Building]

Night View from Mount Rokkō

Arima Onsen (Hot-Spring Resort)

Himeji Station

Himeji Castle

himeji_castle Himeji Castle is the only Japanese castle which is registered as the UNESCO World Heritage Site.  The castle is also known as Hakuro-jō (White Egret Castle) or Shirasagi-jō (White Heron Castle).  Some buildings such as “Tenshukaku” still remain and are also designated National Treasures.  In order to preserve the castle buildings, it underwent restoration work since June of 2009.  Meanwhile, it was off limits with the whole Tenshukaku area covered by scaffolding tarps.  It reopened to the public on March 27, 2015.  To avoid crowds, they are currently distributing entrance tickets. 【Address】 68 Hon-machi Himeji, Hyogo 【Access】 5 minutes by tax (or a 15 minute walk) from JR Himeji Station to Himaji Castle Ote-mon

okayama_castle Okayama Castle is also known as its nickname “Crow Castle (烏城, U-jō)”, since it has a black exterior.  You can experience “costume-wearing” for free in the Joshu-no-ma of Tenshukaku, where you can try on lord’s and princess’ costumes!  From there, you can look out over a city of Okayama or Kōraku-en. 【Address】 2-3-1 Marunouchi Kta-ku, Okayama 【Access】 Get on the streetcar from “Okayama-eki-mae” bound for “Higashiyama”.  Get off at “Shiroshita”.  It’s a 10 minute walk from there.

Kōraku-en

okayama_korakuen Kōraku-en is the vast Japanese garden built in the Edo period.  It is one of the Three Great Gardens of Japan, along with Kenroku-en in Kanagawa, Ishikawa Prefecture and Kairaku-en in Mito, Ibaragi Prefecture.  The scenery is beautiful with various flowers blooming from season to season, with a great contrast of green grass and the pond as sceen from a small hill in the middle of the garden. 【Address】 1-5 Kōraku-en Kta-ku, Okayama 【Access】 Get on the streetcar from “Okayama-eki-mae” bound for “Higashiyama”.  Get off at “Shiroshita”.  It’s a 10 minute walk from there.

Kurashiki Bikan historical quarter

Mitsui Outlet Park Kurashiki
